Takondwa Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA), under the Tasintha Mlimi project, held a sharing out meeting on 28 November 2024 at Nkanalumo Village, Kasungu. A group dominated by women, they have managed to save an impressive K4,222,410.00 in just 11 months!
During the sharing out, the highest member received K399,100.00, followed by K366,000.00. On average, members got K150,000.00!
Takondwa is a VSLA that was formed from the Chitete Cooperative and has been operating independently, benefiting actively from the Tasintha Mlimi Business Funds Scheme. All members are involved in small and medium-scale businesses, reaping the benefits of the VSLA.
Thanks to the shareouts, farmers are able to buy farm inputs, build resilient houses, run big businesses, and support their children’s education.
JCED, through the Tasintha Mlimi project, empowers smallholder farmers to form small groups to save and lend money to each other, boosting their income and making them resilient to the impacts of climate change.
