On November 19th, Bridget Lufeyo attended a pivotal session on Climate Change and Displacement, a side event organized by Save the Children. During this session, Bridget bravely shared her personal story of how Cyclone Freddy impacted her life.In 2023, Cyclone Freddy-induced mudslides devastated Mtauchira Village in Chiradzulu District. Bridget, the sole survivor among her siblings, lost her two sisters and only brother to the disaster. Her family, left homeless, was relocated to an isolated area within the same district, a location lacking access to schools, hospitals, and markets.“The scar on my head is a tragic reminder of how Cyclone Freddy robbed me of my siblings,” Bridget shared.During her speech, she further called for Climate Justice for the children affected by climate change.Bridget Lufeyo is attending COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, with support from JCED and Save the Children.
