Tione Phwandaphwanda

Projects Coordinator

Tione Phwandaphwanda is a passionate environmental scientist and community development worker with 10 years of experience in community empowerment and transforming lives. Joining JCED in 2016, he has excelled in developing, implementing, supervising and managing projects. His current role involves managing the implementation of the Tasintha Mlimi pilot project in Kasungu District, running from 2022 to 2023. As an expert in climate change and sustainable agriculture practices, Tione has extensive experience in interventions that enhance community resilience to climate change impacts. Through JCED, he has acquired profound knowledge and experience in Agroecology, Forest Landscape Restoration, sustainable Energy, Livelihood Security Interventions, and Climate Justice Advocacy work. His interactions with stakeholders at both district and community levels have given him a deep understanding of local structures. As the team leader for the Kasungu field team, Tione has also served as the Child Safeguarding Person for JCED since 2016. In addition to his work with JCED, Tione provides consultancy services in project management and owns a registered Management Consultancy Firm. Academically, he holds a Master of Social Work in Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation and a BSc Degree in Environmental Science.
