Martha Phiri

Acting Deputy Director

Martha Phiri is a Climate Justice Advocate and Community Development Practitioner with six years of experience in ecological justice, sustainable livelihoods, and community resilience. She serves as the Acting Deputy Director at the Jesuit Centre for Ecology and Development (JCED), where she supports strategic leadership, programme implementation, and institutional planning. She also coordinates JCED’s research and advocacy portfolio, generating evidence that informs policy engagement and empowers grassroots and youth-led climate justice movements inspired by Laudato Si. Her expertise includes designing and managing programmes in climate change, disaster risk reduction, agriculture and food security, and rural development. She is passionate about amplifying the voices of vulnerable and marginalized communities and  committed to ensuring inclusive and just development across Africa. Martha holds a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources Management and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Climate Change and Sustainable Development at the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
